What happens when your partner doesn’t want your child to be too black?

I saw the reports about Halle Berry’s ex-boyfriend straightening their daughter’s hair, to stop her being ‘too’ African looking…

I feel for Halle because she’s always spoken of her black roots and has never ‘denied’ it. So to have her child being given messages that having black blood is a ‘problem’ must be a difficult situation to put up with. As the UK has a large and growing mixed race population, it made me think about our black women with mixed race children; have they also had this problem?
