It’s Black History Month. While we know that our history isn’t just about this month or slavery, we still celebrate it at this time. I also think that some of the best songs by Black artists help us to celebrate this time. For me it’s a great reminder of the talent and creativity God has blessed our people with. So enjoy the songs below and leave a comment on what you think and if I’ve missed anyone good off the list!

– Mary J. Blige – Just Fine

– Jill Scott – Golden

– Beyonce – Spirit

– Janet Jackson – Control

– Whitney Houston – It’s Not Right But it’s Ok

– Aretha Franklin – Respect – Sadly the video is unavailable 🙁

– Destiny’s Child – Independent Women

– Gwen Guthrie – Ain’t Nothing Going on But The Rent – Sadly the video is unavailable 🙁

– Nina Simone – I Wish I Knew… (To Be Free)

– India Arie – I Am Not My Hair

Have I missed anyone? Leave a comment and let me know below 🙂
