Why your social media strategy needs more than dogs on skateboards

Facebooktwitterlinkedinmail

Dogs on skateboards, cute cats wearing hats – yes all funny and definitely always raises a smile on social media. Humour, fun and a ‘lighter’ approach are always great ways to engage your audience. But how do you find the balance between publishing your funny posts and serious content (especially if your business is in a ‘serious’ industry – like banking or law)?

The best place to start is to think about a few points:

  1. Who is your audience?
  2. What do they like to see?
  3. Is your ‘funny’ post going to offend in any way? Is it something the ‘mainstream’ would laugh at

Giving some thought to these points and others can help you to have social media posts that show your fun and serious business side too; as life really is too short not to laugh!

To prove I’m not an absolute killjoy – enjoy the video below of Otto the skating dog : )
